Replacing Marine Seat Covers
Marine boats are great ways to enjoy large bodies of water. The boat can be used to fish, to get away from it all, to party and to romance. Most boats consist of an open deck with seats and an open captain's box with padded seats. While some boats do have covers over the seats, most do not. Due to the nature of the boat, water on the deck and on the seats is a common occurrence. This water, along with the wear and tear of being sat and stepped on can wear out even the most durable of the marine seat covers. Even the best of the seat covers eventually needs replaced. Replacing the marine seat covers used to mean having them completely reupholstered. It used to be, and sometimes still is on more expensive boats, that the seat covers were attached to the seat through complex stitching patterns. This gave the seat more stability and the seat covers more ridged. This allowed the seats to look like new longer and the seat covers to wear out slower. Unfortunately, the seat covers do eventually wear out and they must be removed by a professional in order to be replaced. Once they are removed and replaced, most companies stitch them onto the seat again, ensuring that the seats will need to be covered in the future. Other marine seat covers are attached to the seat through a series of snaps and straps. This gives the seat cover the ability to be removed in the future. This is gaining in popularity due to the desire to personalize an area again and again. In addition, the replacing of a disposable seat cover is significantly less expensive than the replacing of a sewn on seat cover. This makes it a more economical alternative to the traditional boat seat cover. The replacement seat covers can be purchased at boat specialty shops or through the boat manufacturer. |
